How Does God Feel About FEAR?

If fear was necessary to life, God certainly would have given it to us.  But He didn’t! The Bible is very clear about it. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:7, NLT)  That’s new news to many of us.  Fear is a evil spirit and it doesn’t come from God. Understand this, if God is not the author of fear then it’s an enemy spirit and we need to deal with it accordingly. Let’s start by identifying “fear” and all the related “enemy agents.” From concern,…

Salt of the Earth

Transitions aren’t easy.  Don’t let anybody tell you they are.  Even the “good changes”–the ones you chose for yourself on the way to a dream or desired future–exact a price in energy and adjustment.  The difficulty in making a change gets compounded greatly when we don’t trust the plans God  has for to give us  a “good future and a hope.” Here’s a blog by Stan Rarden describing the process God led him through to come to understand how to walk through this life and all its changes. Salt.  It’s used so often in the Bible as a metaphor for…

God Knows Your Name

Have you ever heard someone say “I’m my own worst enemy?”  I have, and I’ve even said it myself on more than a few occasions. I confess that at times I’ve had things go wrong-I’ve made dumb decisions that cost me and others a lot unfortunately- but who hasn’t, right? And who hasn’t, at one time or another, felt like the decisions he or she has made brought God’s judgment down in their life? Well, I was wrong to believe this. I’ve come to realize that I am not the enemy. No matter how many dumb things I’ve done, no…

Ripples in the Pond by Stan Rarden

A man stands on one side of a large pond, skipping rocks on its surface. He does this for a few moments, counting how many times they skip, trying to beat his personal best.  At last he’s out of smooth stones, the kind suitable for skipping, and turns to leave.  Before he does, though, he sees a large, craggy rock at his feet.  Just for fun, he heaves the rock as far into the pond as he can, enjoying the big splash it makes when it hits.  Then he goes, having had his moment of play, forgetting all that he’s…

Change Your Mind

We are promised a transformed life as the result of a renewed mind.  Sometimes we forget how very different God’s way is from the accepted perspectives of the world.  Thought I would just pull this excerpt from the Employed for Life Devotional as a reminder that we are not of this world.  We need to keep Heaven’s point of view at all times, and live it out every day. Holding Kingdom Perspectives For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a…

What’s My Occupation?

This poem was written by a brilliant young woman and performed at the recent  Aglow International Conference in Orlando.  It is a great depicition of the message that serves as the foundation for Employed for Life.  We will be posting the video so you can see her delivering her poem personally but in the meantime, enjoy it here. Thank you for sharing it, Nishan! What’s My Occupation? Written by: Nishan Patton Introduction What’s my occupation? I wanted to be an astronaut You see I wanted to ascend to the heavens maybe go to the moon… Then I wanted to be…

Open Your Hands

It is amazing how things can creep into our hearts and grow in importance…until they eclipse what really matters and hide what God is doing in our lives.  I hope you will be touched by the simple and powerful message in this blog written by my husband, Stan. We’re married 22 years now, thanks be to God, and if I’ve heard it once I’ve heard it a bazillion times from my loving wife… “Hold everything with an open hand.”  When we first met I thought she was just recycling some ancient hippie dogma, along the lines of “If you love…

Remarkable!

I want to share a beautiful testimony that was just given to me.  It speaks of an important, I would go so far as to say essential, step in any key transition in the Kingdom of God.  As you read it you will get a sense of the shift that is produced by a realization of the overwhelming love of God.  Every move forward spiritually is accompanied by an upgrade in our understanding of who God is for us and how great His love is towards us.  Be blessed! REMARKABLE  I was having another sleepless night, and then I had…

How Dirty Is Your Windshield?

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12 It’s really hard to grasp the practical truth of the above scripture, especially when we’re in the midst of a life change and it’s so dark we cannot see the way ahead of us.  At times the road can be so  obscured we can’t even see the next step in front of us, let alone the upcoming intersections that will call for some choices and decisions on our part….
